UNDER STRENGTH SENIOR HURLERS FALL TO BALLYCRAN ACCURACY-
Date Filed: 08 June 2022
BALLYVARLEY 2-12 BALLYCRAN 8-23.
The reds woes began before the game even started, with
regular goalkeeper, Conal Mc Nally getting injured in the pre-match warm up and
was unable to take his place. The visitors took advantage of Ballyvarley’s disarray,
with an opening salvo of six goals. It was an uphill struggle after that, and
at times the Reds crept closer but Ballycran were always able to pick off their
scores with consummate ease and great accuracy to ease to a comfortable
victory. A succession of Ballyvarley wides in the last quarter could have put a
different complexion on the score line, strange as it may sound there were lots
of positive points from individual performances. Sometimes a gentle defeat can
be a good remedy for complacency and a wee reminder that we still have some
work to do to get up to championship standard. So we look to the response from
the team in the weeks ahead.
