Aghaderg’s Senior Footballers played away to Newry Mitchels in breezy conditions last night in the third game of their league campaign.
Aghaderg went to work right from the start racing into a 9 point lead with well worked scores from Chrissy McEvoy, Rory Simpson and Joe O’Kane. It was well into the first half before Mitchels registered their first point but they went on to add another two in quick succession.
Aghaderg upped their game again and answered with three back to back points of their own to leave the half time score:
Mitchels 0-3 Aghaderg 0-12.
Aghaderg introduced fresh legs in a number of areas in the second half but this did not upset the team’s rhythm. They quickly added to their points tally followed by a well worked goal from Niall Lennon. Mitchels kept working until the end and scored two goals late in the game. Aghaderg again responded with several more points with the last word going to Paul Prior who topped off a fine individual performance in midfield with a point of his own.
Whilst this was a high scoring game for Aghaderg with the forward line all in fine form, a big mention must also go to the Aghaderg midfield and back line who worked tirelessly to turn over so much ball and then moved it forward quickly.
