Ballyvarley U14 Hurlers win at Hilltown

Date Filed: 04 May 2013

After the disappointment of no games for the last two weeks (Castlewellan unable to field and Newry pitch waterlogged) the young reds were glad to finally get to play some hurling. A cold, wet and rain soaked Hilltown was the venue and the signs were ominous as Ballyvarley took to the field with two key players missing.
The young team need not have worried however as they won this game easily. The manner of the victory was particularly pleasing with a high work rate that never let up from start to finish and some excellent hurling skills on display all over the field. Superb interplay from Michael McKey, Liam Conlon and Ryan Harrison laid the foundations for a blistering attack and many scores from a hard working forward line of Cathal McClure, Paddy McGrath, James Clarke and Conor Brolly. In defence Sean Stewart and Mark Colgan snuffed out any threats with great skill and determination.
Final Score: Clonduff 1.0, Ballyvarley 9.14
