U-15 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

05 August 2023

In their highly anticipated Championship opener, St Patrick's 15’s team faced off against formidable first division opponents, RGU Downpatrick, in a clash at Cottage Park.

The match started with St Patrick's displaying their determination and skill, pushing RGU back for extended periods and creating promising scoring opportunities. However, despite their efforts, they couldn't quite convert those chances into scores, ending the first half trailing by 8 points.

As the second half commenced, the winds posed an additional challenge for St Patrick's. Nevertheless, the team exhibited an admirable work ethic, tirelessly defending against the relentless attacks of RGU Downpatrick. The lads fought with great heart and resilience, preventing their opponents from overpowering them on the night.

Despite missing a number of players, the performance of the players on the night was commendable, as they put up a spirited fight against their higher-ranked opponents.

One crucial takeaway from the match was the need to retain possession and capitalise on scoring opportunities. St Patrick's recognised that, had they taken advantage of their chances, the outcome could have been much closer or even in their favour.

Final score
