Ballyvarley U-10 Take Part In Blitz in Warrenpoint 05/09/09

11 September 2009

They started off against a very strong Breda team who dominated the game both skilfully and physically.
In their next match against Liatroim we put up more of a fight but Liatroim proved too strong.

They then had a match against Warrenpoint, unfortunately one of Ballyvarley’s stronger players Michael McKey was unable to play with a suspected broken thumb.
This did not deter the Ballyvarley team who beat Warrenpoint through points from Callum McConville and a goal from Mark Colgan. With strong performances being made from Matthew Malone, Paddy McGrath and Joseph Morgan in defence.

In the final game, they were up against a strong combined team of Mourne and Shamrocks.  We gave them a physical game and kept the sliotar in their half for most of the match.  Unfortunately we were unable to convert any chance and lost the game.

A player from each team was chosen by the referee’s as player of the tournament.  Callum McConville was chosen and was presented with a medal.
