Match Report
Seniors on course for promotion
Date Filed:
04 August 2008
Senior Football League 28/07/08
Aghaderg 1-13 Bright 1-8
Our senior footballers kept themselves well in the hunt for promotion, with a well-deserved victory over Bright on Monday
night. Cathal Mc Grath opened the scoring with a well-taken point
followed by a crisp shot from Paul O’Neill to put them two up. Bright responded with a point from a free before some slick passing saw
Stephen Comiskey through on goal to blast to the net from close range. Rory Simpson extended the locals lead with a fine long range effort but a lack of discipline in the tackling saw the reds give away another soft free which Bright duly dispatched over the bar. Aghadergs response however was immediate with Cathal Mc Grath converting a 30m free. Bright managed a couple more points before a Rory Simpson free put the locals back on track. Bright
did have the last say however to point from another free just before the break.
Half Time: Aghaderg 1-5 Bright 0-5
If Bright thought they had a chance in this match it was very short lived as Aghaderg upped the anti. Within ten minutes of the restart, the local lads had hit six unanswered points from, Conor Lavery, Rory Simpson (3), Cathal Mc Grath, and Stephen Comiskey. Aghaderg were nine points up and coasting, but Bright had not given up and hit 1-2 in the following five minutes to close the
gap. Conor Lavery and Cathal Mc Grath notched up another point each before Bright finished the scoring with a point.
